ENACT brough four cultural activities at the Great North Museum during the Discovery Festival on June 13, 2026
Organised by Newcastle University the festival welcomed around 2,500 people, with over 300 academics, students and staff hosting 70+ activities, workshops & performances across campus. Faces of all ages joined us in exploring cultural traditions and crafts from 4 countries around the world, namely Lithuanian flower crowns, Turkish marbling art, Maori Poi balls, and French Mardi Gras masks.
One of the event facilitators noted how lovely it was "to see how excited they became when they repeated the words and connected them to the materials they were using. Their enthusiasm reminded me how powerful language learning can be when it is introduced in a fun and creative way."
