On 14 May 2026, ENACT Europa brought two globally inspired cultural workshops, namely Turkish Marbling and Chinese Calligraphy, to Middlesbrough College, engaging ESOL learners in hands‑on creative learning. The session was delivered by ENACT's Research Assistant Eve as part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to promoting intercultural understanding in UK classrooms.
Sixteen A1 and A2 English ESOL students, accompanied by several teachers, took part in the activities. For many, it was their first experience with these traditional art forms. Students explored colour, pattern, and symbolism through marbling techniques, before experimenting with brushwork and character formation in calligraphy.
The workshops aimed to build cultural awareness while supporting language development in an accessible, enjoyable format. Staff noted the positive impact on student participation and engagement, highlighting the value of creative, culturally rich approaches within ESOL education.
ENACT Europa plans to continue expanding its cultural outreach across the region.
