We had a fantastic Refugee Week 2025 event at the Great North Museum on 22nd of June! Languages and cultures are our superpowers!

Families made beautiful Lithuanian flower crowns and crafted their own Lambton Worms, inspired by local legend. We welcomed around 35 visitors of all ages, who came together to celebrate heritage, creativity, and community. The event was filled with laughter, learning, and lively conversation in many languages. Children and adults took part in hands-on activities that highlighted the richness of different cultures and traditions.
A huge thank you to our project research assistant, Eleanor Jones and Dr Müge Satar for running the event. and of course our fantastic colleagues at the Great North Museum for hosting us and supporting the event. We’re proud to be part of a community that embraces diversity and welcomes everyone with open arms. Let’s keep celebrating what makes us unique – and united!
