Karagöz bir gölge oyunudur. Karagöz ve Hacivat karakterleri arasında geçen komik konuşmalar ve atışmalardan oluşur. Kelime oyunları, danslar, ve hareketler komik etki yaratır. Karagöz hicivsel ve komik bir oyundur.
Karagöz is a shadow play performed by an artist and is based on the funny dialogues and squabbles between Karagöz and Hacivat. The comical effect is achieved by the plays on words, dances and movements. The play contains a considerable element of satire and lampooning, which refer to the state authorities in a comic style.
Ana karakter Karagöz eğitimsiz, cesur, duygularını açıkça ifade eden, çabuk sinirlenen, kavga eden, ve iki yüzlülük ve yalana katlanamayan bir karakterdir. Oyundaki eğitimli karakterlerin (örneğin Hacivat) dediklerini anlamaz ya da anlamazlıktan gelir. Sonuçta türlü komik durumlar oluşur.
The lead character Karagöz is uneducated, brave, and transparent with his emotions, gets angry and fights, but cannot tolerate hypocrisy and lies. He does not understand, or pretends not to understand, what educated characters say (e.g. Hacivat), and he misinterprets them. These result in a variety of comical situations.
What I have learnt about the language is there are a lot of similar words with my mother tongue. Understanding instructions without translation was very exciting.
What I have learnt about the culture is that Karagoz shadow play usually popular in Ramadan months.
I enjoyed this activity as there was a usable outcome, I could see me showing this to children that I work with. The puppets in the first video were quite different than the ones made I would like to see them side by side.
I like the sounds of the Turkish words and was making word associations with some Spanish, which helped me memorise some of them. I love puppets and this makes me want to try shadow puppets.
It was interesting to see that this is something that we do in my culture. In my country this was very popular many years ago, but now it's just something we don't use so often. Also, the name of the main character is the same in my country.
The video instructions were very clear.
I noticed that the nouns learnt at the start of the activity had different endings when in sentences, is it because of cases?
Really cool way to learn some unusual Turkish words and get involved with the language and culture. Would an especially fun activity to try with children.
I think it was interesting and useful way to learn languages with video so you can learn are the words that related to that activity and that's how its stuck in your mind
And after that the short game makes much better and challenging
